Q: How old are you?

I'm born in 1994! As of 2018, I'm a 24 Years Old Male.

Q: Are you Singaporean?

Yes, I'm fully born & bred Singaporean. I went to Elias Park Primary School, Chung Cheng High (Main), Raffles Junior College and the National University of Singapore for my school studies.  I served my National Service in the Armour Division and am currently attached to the 489 Singapore Armoured Regiment.

Q: Do you go over to the student's house or teach at your house?

I travel to the student's house to teach. I currently live with my parents so it's not too convenient for them to have student's come over unless necessary.

Q: Must I have a Piano or an Electric Keyboard for lessons?

I understand that a proper piano may be too costly. Electric Keyboards are just fine, but if students are preparing for graded examinations, I strongly recommend purchasing a proper piano.

Q: How long have you been teaching?

I started teaching in 2008 in a music school as a part-time job to supplement as an additional income for myself. I love teaching and have been teaching since then. Since 2011, I have been teaching as a private music tutor.

Q: What instruments do you play?

My main 2 instruments are the Piano and Chinese Flute. I can play the western flute decently, and play all sorts of instruments leisurely, including acoustic guitar and drumsets.

Q: How old is your youngest student?

I've taught a 3-year-old before. I must admit its challenging but I believe I'm pretty good with children. I was based overseas in 2017 and has since stopped teaching him.

Q: How much do you charge?

My baseline fee is $50/hour and this includes traveling expenses.

Q: How is payment done?

Payment for lesson fees is done at the start of every month for 4 lessons for the month (depending on how many lessons are scheduled in a particular month). Payment can be done through cash, cheque, DBS Paylah and bank transfer. Payment of fees is to be done before the end of the 1st week of every month.

Q: Where do you mainly teach?

I live in the East of Singapore and mainly teach there. I rarely teach outside the East due to traveling inconvenience.

Q: How fast can my child go for a Grade 1 Music examination from zero music knowledge?

Depending on the age and interest of the child, the duration can range from 3 months to 1 year.

Q: What do we (parents) do if we decide we'd like to switch to another piano teacher?

I believe in keeping communication as open and honest as possible with parents & students. Taking piano lessons is a very personal decision for one to make and there are scenarios where the teaching styles of the piano tutor and learning capabilities of the student do not match. Should you decide that I am not suitable as a piano tutor after awhile, I'll be happy to refer you to other tutors who may have more complementary teaching styles suitable to your child and ensure that the transfer is as smooth as possible.

Q: Are you able to accommodate to trial lessons?

Yes, I do. I believe its important for the music tutor and the student to be comfortable with each other. Trial Lessons will allow just that!
